Major Milestone in Heist Recovery
Binance has replenished 90 percent of the customer funds stolen during a recent record-breaking cyberattack, according to an announcement from the company’s chief executive officer. The unprecedented security breach resulted in hackers making off with approximately $6.3 billion in customer assets, marking one of the largest heists in the history of the digital asset industry.
Following the breach, the company moved quickly to address the massive shortfall. Leadership confirmed that Binance is covering the stolen funds directly from its own reserves to ensure that affected users are made whole. The restoration of nine-tenths of the compromised assets represents a significant logistical step forward in mitigating the immediate fallout of the multi-billion-dollar incident.
Tackling Illiquid Tokens and Remaining Shortfalls
While the vast majority of the missing digital assets have now been replaced, a remaining 10 percent balance is still pending. According to Binance, this remaining portion consists primarily of less liquid tokens. Because these specific assets have lower market liquidity and trading volume compared to primary cryptocurrencies, the company noted that procuring and replenishing them takes additional time.
Despite the challenges associated with acquiring these less liquid tokens, the exchange emphasized that it will not leave any users uncompensated. Binance reiterated its firm intention to fully cover the entire remaining balance, maintaining that user accounts will not shoulder any financial loss from the security breach.
Withdrawals Scheduled to Resume
In the immediate aftermath of the theft, Binance paused customer withdrawals to secure its systems and prevent further unauthorized capital flight. The company confirmed in an official statement on X that withdrawals remain temporarily suspended while security operations and asset replenishment continue.
However, the platform indicated that it remains on track to restore normal services soon. According to the company’s stated timetable, withdrawal operations are targeted to reopen on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Binance noted that it will provide further detailed updates to the public and its users as soon as the operational specifics around the resumption are finalized.
Commitment to Transparency and Direct Compensation
Addressing the broader implications of the cyberattack, Binance reaffirmed its dedication to stabilizing the platform and supporting its community. The exchange stated that its primary commitment remains focused on fully absorbing the financial impact of the funds stolen during the intrusion.
The company also stated that it intends to prove its operational reliability through continued transparency, measurable progress updates, and concrete technical actions. The next major operational milestone for the platform centers on successfully executing the safe reopening of user withdrawal services within the projected timeframe.
