Apple TV has officially announced a new comedy-drama series titled The Choir, marking an on-screen reunion for British creators and actors Ruth Jones and James Corden. The project formalizes reports from last year indicating that Apple had entered into a production deal with the creative duo behind the acclaimed UK sitcom Gavin & Stacey.

Reuniting the ‘Gavin & Stacey’ Team

The Choir brings Jones and Corden back together following the record-breaking run of Gavin & Stacey. While Corden has established a notable presence in the United States, Jones is primarily recognized by British audiences. Their previous collaborative work achieved historic viewership figures, culminating in the 2024 finale of Gavin & Stacey becoming the most-watched scripted television broadcast ever in the United Kingdom.

Apple confirmed that the newly commissioned series is scheduled to debut on its streaming platform in 2027. The tech giant describes the production as a comedic drama centered on themes of family, friendship, love, and music, retaining a heartwarming tone aligned with the creative sensibility of the duo’s earlier work.

Series Premise and High-Profile Cast

The Choir follows estranged siblings Ben and Lisa, portrayed by Corden and Jones respectively. According to the official series overview, the pair have not seen each other for several years. While Ben has been living abroad, Lisa has remained in their quiet English hometown where little ever occurs.

The narrative is set in motion when unexpected circumstances take a turn for the worse, forcing Ben to return to his former home, the small town he disliked, and the family from which he had grown distant. The central dynamic revolves around whether the rift between Ben and his older sister can be resolved through their involvement with a struggling local choir and the local ensemble that meets to sing each week.

In addition to its central duo, The Choir will feature appearances from notable guest stars, including Hannah Waddingham, James McAvoy, and Jim Broadbent, alongside a broader supporting cast.

Apple TV Streaming Availability

The Choir joins Apple TV’s growing roster of original television comedies and dramas. Apple offers access to its streaming catalog via a standalone Apple TV subscription priced at $14.99 per month, as well as through tiered Apple One subscription bundles that package the streaming platform with other digital services.
