Apple Sets iPhone Sales Record Driven by Pro Models and Price Adjustments

A 17 percent surge in iPhone revenue propelled Apple to record fourth-quarter figures, despite the absence of a standard base model in its latest release cycle.

Apple device lineup featuring premium smartphones and hardware

Apple delivered a record-setting fourth quarter for iPhone revenue, driven by higher-tier hardware and targeted price increases across its catalog. In financial figures published on Monday, the Cupertino company reported $57.58 billion in quarterly iPhone sales, representing a 17 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year. The performance arrived without the presence of a newly refreshed base model, highlighting a revenue mix heavily anchored by premium hardware.

Premium Mix and Shifting Hardware Strategy

The record quarterly revenue follows the September debut of the iPhone 18 lineup. Rather than following its historical playbook of updating standard entry points alongside higher-end devices, Apple introduced only the pricier iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max as part of the refresh. Alongside the introduction of the premium handsets, the company instituted price increases across its older existing models.

Apple also entered the foldable device category with the unveiling of the iPhone Duo, its inaugural folding handset. Preorder revenue from the iPhone Duo, however, was not included in the fourth-quarter financial figures. The rollout of the folding device encountered constrained initial retail stock, with Apple having only limited units in stores at launch and select shipment estimates stretching into 2027.

Supply Pressures and Executive Perspective

Hardware manufacturers have broadly contended with tightened supply chains and elevated component pricing, pressures that also affected Apple and informed its pricing adjustments across product lines. Rising memory expenses emerged as a key operational factor during the quarter.

In an interview with CNBC, Apple CEO John Ternus outlined the dynamics shaping hardware costs during the period. Ternus stated that the company saw higher memory costs compared to the June quarter, noting that the increased expense was partly offset by the benefit of carrying inventory and lower costs across non-memory components.

Mac, Services, and Broader Divisional Results

Beyond the iPhone segment, Apple recorded an overall top-line revenue increase of 12 percent, reaching $114.5 billion for the quarter. Growth was reinforced by resilient performance across computing hardware and digital offerings, even as specific categories experienced contractions.

The Mac hardware division surged 24 percent year over year, generating $10.79 billion in revenue. Apple Services—which aggregates App Store platform commissions alongside recurring subscriptions such as Apple Music and Apple TV—expanded to reach $31.57 billion. Conversely, iPad revenue saw a year-over-year decline of 10 percent, finishing the fourth quarter at $6.23 billion.

Ecosystem Expansions in Smart Home and Computing

The earnings report follows a series of notable product introductions across Apple product lines. Over recent weeks, the company accelerated its presence in the connected living category by debuting its first dedicated smart home display. That initiative also included a lineup of security cameras, video doorbells, and door locks developed in collaboration with Schneider Electric and LG.

Additionally, Apple unveiled a redesigned MacBook Pro featuring a touchscreen display. The introduction of touch functionality on the Mac notebook line marks a clear hardware pivot, adopting an interface concept that company leadership had historically resisted.
