Rockstar Games has shared new details about the auditory environment in Grand Theft Auto VI, stating that the upcoming title will deliver the franchise’s most expansive audio experience to date. Alongside traditional vehicle broadcasts, the game is set to feature a new spoken-word format through in-game podcasts.
Expanded Radio Stations Across Leonida
According to Rockstar Games, GTA VI will feature the series’ “biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio yet.” The studio confirmed at least six radio stations that players can access, with listening capabilities available both inside vehicles and on foot. The station genres span a broad musical spectrum, including country, classic rock, talk radio, and rap.
The six confirmed stations announced by Rockstar are Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6, Flash FM, and Dirty South Classics. Samples for all six stations have been published on Rockstar’s official website, allowing listeners to preview the broadcasts ahead of launch.
Introduction of On-Demand Podcasts
The audio lineup extends beyond continuous radio programming. Rockstar announced that “for the first time ever, Grand Theft Auto VI introduces a series of on-demand podcasts.” Under this feature, players will be able to select and listen to fictional podcast creators offering commentary and takes on fictional events while navigating the open world of Leonida, the series’ fictional interpretation of Florida.
Rockstar’s website also features samples of six singles from the official Grand Theft Auto VI soundtrack. The soundtrack selection, initially announced earlier this month, includes music from artists such as Travis Scott and Yung Lean.
World Details and Release Timeline
The addition of on-demand programming points to the level of world-building planned for the game. Other details showcased in an extended preview include mechanics such as hand-holding and police non-player characters that remember the player’s appearance, while recent leaks also surfaced personal details regarding the game’s two central characters.
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently open for preorders and is scheduled to release on November 19th.
