The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of Punjab has officially approved the revised rehabilitation plan for the Gujrat–Sargodha Road in District Mandi Bahauddin, allocating Rs 11,989 million to the major infrastructure scheme.
High-Level Planning Approval
The decision was made during the 11th meeting of the current financial year, presided over by Planning and Development (P&D) Board Punjab Chairman Dr. Naeem Rauf. During the session, the board reviewed and cleared the road initiative alongside nine other development projects, which together represent a combined financial commitment of Rs 60 billion across the province.
Key provincial officials attended the high-level meeting, including P&D Board Secretary Rafaqat Ali, Chief Economist Dr. Farrukh Naveed, alongside members of the board and representatives from relevant government departments.
Regional Connectivity and Trade Impact
The approved road initiative targets the extensive restoration and upgrading of a critical transit artery connecting Gujrat and Sargodha through the district of Mandi Bahauddin. Once work is completed, the upgraded thoroughfare is expected to significantly improve regional mobility, shorten transit times, and support commercial and freight traffic moving between these key urban centers in Punjab.
