Apple has announced a series of feature updates across Apple Creator Studio, introducing new capabilities to its suite of creative and productivity applications spanning Mac, iPad, and visionOS.
Advanced Masking and Templates in Pixelmator Pro
As part of the update, Pixelmator Pro for iPad has been upgraded with dedicated edge-refinement tools designed for complex selections. Bringing the Select and Mask feature previously available on Mac to iPad, the application now offers creators dedicated controls to refine selections and masks with high precision. The tool allows users to preserve intricate edge details, such as hair or fur, when isolating subjects from backgrounds.
Pixelmator Pro has also expanded its design assets across both Mac and iPad. The update introduces two new template collections: one tailored for sports and action-oriented content, and another aimed at launching new business ventures, products, or creative ideas. Additionally, Pixelmator Pro adds a dedicated Podcasts category containing pre-sized cover artwork formatted to meet the requirements of major podcast distribution platforms.
Cinematic Video Adjustments in Final Cut Pro and Motion
For video editors, Final Cut Pro and Motion on Mac gain deeper integration with camera capture capabilities. Editors working with native video recorded on iPhone 18 Pro can now apply Cinematic mode effects directly during the post-production stage. This workflow allows users to adjust focal points and modify depth of field settings directly within the Final Cut Pro timeline.
Complementing these video editing capabilities, Apple has updated Compressor with the ability to convert video containing Cinematic mode effects back into the previous Cinematic mode format. The companion compression software also introduces updated export presets for HEVC and MPEG-4, configured for social media sharing.
Intelligent Slide Generation and iWork Enhancements
Productivity applications across Apple Creator Studio have received updates targeted at workflow efficiency and collaboration. Subscribers to Apple Creator Studio gain access to newly designed professional templates and themes within Keynote, Pages, and Numbers.
Keynote incorporates an intelligent slide generation tool that automatically produces context-specific images tailored to the subject matter of a presentation. Across Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, collaboration has been updated with an in-app request-access feature, allowing team members to ask for permission to view or edit shared documents, spreadsheets, and presentations directly in the moment.
On Mac, Pages introduces Screen View, an interface mode engineered to optimize document layout for focused reading and writing sessions. Meanwhile, Numbers expands its mathematical capabilities with a new collection of trigonometry, statistics, and logic functions to support complex data modeling and problem-solving within spreadsheets.
Freeform Upgrades and Spatial Collaboration in visionOS 27
Freeform has received several workflow and visual additions. The digital canvas now automatically adapts its interface to Dark Mode, and users can organize multiple boards into folders to maintain cleaner collections and coordinate sharing with collaborators. Freeform also integrates Shortcuts, allowing users to automate the process of adding content to boards, alongside the shared access-request mechanism added across the productivity suite.
Freeform boards now integrate with Writing Tools powered by Apple Intelligence, enabling users to summarize, rewrite, and proofread handwritten notes directly on the canvas.
On visionOS 27, Freeform expands its spatial capabilities. Users working in visionOS can extract multiple items directly from a Freeform board into their surrounding physical space. Supported board elements include images, videos, sticky notes, geometric shapes, and 3D models. The update also enables collaborative spatial viewing, allowing groups of users to inspect and interact with 3D models simultaneously in a shared environment.
